Left the next day to go to Austin. We were kind of on a tight schedule at this point because Michael wanted to be back for Thanksgiving.

They have these everywhere in Texas.

I thought we were staying with someone Michael knew in Austin. It turns out that we were actually staying with some girls that responded to a craigslist ad he put up. Walking up to their house, this painting was the only thing I could see through the window. There was no doubt in my mind that we were going to get stuck with some serious weirdos.
It turns out that they weren't as weird as I thought. Two of them were just art students, one of which liked to paint black women in lingerie.
The girl that replied to the criagslist post was supposed to go out with us and show us around, but found out that she had to work at the last minute. We decided to go out on our own and try to soak up some of the local flavor.

First bar we went to. Flavor country.

This band was the polar opposite of what we saw in Lubbock the night before. They were like an old school outlaw country band and they killed it.

The pedal steel player was pretty amazing and the dude who was singing drank straight whiskey out of the bottle the entire time.

Had a bunch of these.

Then this Mexican guy walked in through the back door holding a red plastic cooler and strolled through the bar selling home made tacos and tamales. These might have been the best tacos Ive ever had.

Went here next.

Turns out it was a Johnny Cash themed bar.

The back area was pretty tight.
Craigslist girl (I think her name was Cassandra?) ended up getting off work early and we met up with her, her brother, and some other people at another bar and played darts until I got my beer taken away from me.

She had to drop her brother off or something so we rode around shooting roman candles out o the sun roof.

Waited outside of her place for a while. Charged my phone.

Then walked up and down her street setting off more fireworks until she got back to let us in so we could go to sleep.
